Keep in mind that from the point of view of the bush misadministration he's always been a token.
And it's not "good" advice that they have problems with. It's any advice that they don't think was handed down from god. I mean that literally.

I don't think Powell took up the "party line" so to speak. He was given the best intelligence he had available to him at the time. If he cannot rely on those who brief him to give him accurate information, then the problem is not with Powell. I have the utmost respect for Powell and still do.
If I were to see a McCain/Powell or Powell/McCain ticket, this election would be over.
I keep hearing this "Kerry-McCain" ticket. Am I missing something here? What's next, Robert Byrd on the Republican ticket? Charles Rangell on the Libertarian ticket? How about the Kennedy School for Driver's Ed, Flight Instruction, and Ski lessons?
Just think Lew if the original electoral rules were still in place: George W. Bush would be president from the 2000 election and Al Gore would have been his V/P. The candidate who came in 2nd place got the V/P slot. Ofcourse at that time there were always more than 2 candidates. And then the Aaron Burr/Alexander Hamilton fiasco made the powers that be reconsider the whole idea of putting the loser in the V/P position...

Indeed, GL. That's why I took such a pause when I heard about this "Kerry McCain" ticket. It made me think we were back in time.
Give credit to Burr about a couple of things, though- one, he knew how to take care of a problem. Second, there's nothing quite like a person who's really, really pissed off, and then you mix in just a little bit of delirium, and bam! Watch the fireworks explode.....
